Ohio, the “buckeye” state takes its name from the Iroquois word for “great river,” in reference to the Ohio River. First explored in 1669, the Ohio region became British property after the French and Indian Wars. Ohio was acquired by the U.S. after the Revolutionary War in 1783.

One of the nation's industrial leaders, many important manufacturing centers are located in or near major Ohio cities. Akron is known for rubber; Canton for roller bearings; Cincinnati for jet engines and machine tools; Cleveland for auto assembly, auto parts, and steel; Dayton for office machines, refrigeration, and heating and auto equipment; Youngstown and Steubenville for steel; and Toledo for glass and auto parts.

North American Power is proud to offer Ohioans a selection of competitive fixed rates for electricity and natural gas supply services.

We love serving the great state of Ohio . . .

About Energy Choice in Ohio

Residents and businesses in most areas of Ohio have had energy choice since 1997! If you live in Ohio and currently buy your home’s electric or natural gas supply from Dayton Power & Light, Duke Energy, AEP Ohio, American Electric Power, Ohio Edison, The Illuminating Company, or Toledo Edison directly, you may be able to save on your monthly energy costs by switching to a new home energy supplier, like North American Power. How Energy Choice Works in Ohio?

Your home utility bill consists of two parts – delivery service and energy supply.  Delivery service is the poles and wires that bring electricity or natural gas to your home. The energy supply portion of your bill is for the electricity or natural gas you use in your home.  Who supplies that energy is up to you, the customer.  While each utility’s home electric or natural gas bill is different, about half of the total bill is for delivery and the rest is for the electricity you use.

Thanks to energy deregulation consumers can switch from their utility to a retail energy supplier, like North American Power that is buying electricity and natural gas on the wholesale energy market.

Choosing us means you can be informed about how much you’re paying for electricity or natural gas, not just settling for the rate your electric or natural gas utility is offering you. Just like you shop around for the best cable provider or mobile service plan, you can shop around for your home’s electric or natural gas supply!

Don’t worry, no matter who you choose to supply your energy, your Ohio electric or natural gas utility company is still responsible for maintaining the electric grid and gas lines, delivering electricity to homes and handling all service and outage problems.
